Logitech G brings back the Blue Yeti name with a self-adjusting USB mic
The Blue Yeti 2 launched today with a proximity sensor that tracks your voice in 3D and retunes the mic as you move.
Lean back from the mic mid-sentence and the Blue Yeti 2 is meant to follow you. The Verge reports that a built-in audio proximity sensor tracks the voice in 3D and automatically adjusts gain, EQ and pickup pattern to hold recording quality steady no matter how close or far you are while moving around the mic.
It launched today under Logitech G, with the sensor joined by an interactive LED display and AI de-noising.
Underneath, according to Engadget, there is a redesigned three-capsule array, 24-bit / 48kHz recording, several directional modes and a headphone jack for monitoring.
The processing happens on the mic itself. Integrated DSP sharpens voice clarity without extra software, The Verge reports, and AI-powered noise removal is aimed at the sounds a desk makes: computer fans, mouse clicks, and in Engadget's description keystrokes as well.
The front of the mic, where the controls sit, carries a 1.3-inch color LED display. It shows a "Yeti character" that gives visual feedback on gain levels and polar patterns, and if the mascot isn't your thing, Engadget says custom avatars will be available through Logitech's G Hub software.
Pricing lands in the same place from both outlets, give or take a cent: The Verge lists $159.99 in black or white, Engadget $160 from Logitech's website and third-party retail partners.
The name is the surprising part. The original Blue Yeti has been one of the most recognizable go-to USB microphones for content creators since 2009, and Logitech bought the Blue audio production company for $117 million in 2018 before killing the Blue brand outright in 2023, folding the products into its gaming-focused Logitech G sub-brand. Now it's back on a box.
