Fairphone confirms an August 18 launch for the Fairphone 6 Plus, price still rumour

If you have been holding off on a Fairphone 6, there is now a date to wait for: the company has confirmed that the Fairphone 6 Plus arrives on August 18, 2026. GSMArena notes the date first surfaced as a rumour a day before Fairphone made it official.

The teaser itself gives away almost nothing. Eleven seconds of video, the words "The Fairphone. Plus more." Android Authority reports the announcement will be streamed on Fairphone's YouTube channel.

CEO Raymond Van Eck was slightly more forthcoming in a statement to Android Authority: "Android Authority readers may have been teased by some recent, sneaky rumours. We're ready to unveil the full story. Tune into our livestream on August 18th!"

What those rumours describe is a modest step up rather than a new generation. According to recent rumours reported by GSMArena, the changes over last year's Fairphone 6 amount to a newer chipset, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in place of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB, and a Cobalt Blue colour option.

Price is where the leaks pull apart. GSMArena reports a rumoured €649, which it puts at €50 above the Fairphone 6's launch price and €100 above what the phone sells for now. Android Authority lands higher, citing leaks that place the phone between €650 and €690, and part of the gap has a boring explanation: the upper figure comes from a Danish online store listing found via the device's EAN number, 5,121 Danish kroner or roughly €685, and New Mobile notes that Denmark charges 25% VAT against 21% in the Netherlands.

So the spread may be tax, not disagreement. Or it may be both.

Even the name is unsettled between the two reports, with GSMArena writing Fairphone 6+ and Android Authority using Fairphone 6 Plus.
