Huawei's Pura X View lands with a 96.1% screen-to-body claim and a 7,000 mAh battery

If you care about bezels, this is the phone to watch. Huawei's Pura X View wraps a 6.39-inch OLED panel in 1.05mm frames on all four sides, and Huawei says the result is a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio, the highest to date, on what it calls the industry's first smartphone with a 16:9.5 wide screen. Both claims come via Huawei Central.

The panel runs at 1320x2232, 120Hz, and Huawei quotes 6,500 nits peak brightness at 1% APL, per GSMArena. That aspect ratio is the unusual part, wider than the tall 20:9 shape most phones have settled into.

Pricing starts at CNY 5,999 ($893) for 256GB, rises to CNY 6,999 ($1,042) for 512GB, and tops out at CNY 8,499 ($1,266) for the 1TB version, GSMArena reports. All three share 12GB of RAM and the Kirin 9030S chipset.

The camera array is a 200MP main sensor at f/1.8 with OIS, an ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto at f/2.6 with OIS and an 88mm-equivalent focal length. Selfies come from a 50MP f/2.4 camera. Sources split on the ultrawide: GSMArena lists an 8MP f/2.2 unit with autofocus, while Huawei Central describes a 50MP shooter with a 112-degree field of view.

Battery is 7,000 mAh, and here too the numbers diverge. GSMArena puts wired charging at 66W with 50W wireless plus reverse wired and reverse wireless; Huawei Central says 100W wired. At 6.68mm thick and 201 grams, fitting a cell that size into a body that thin is the headline engineering feat regardless of which charging figure holds up, and it is worth knowing before you read any endurance comparison against last year's flagships.

Software is HarmonyOS 7. The phone is IP68 and IP69 rated, supports BeiDou satellite messaging, and uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Colours are black, white, gray and red.

Huawei had semi-announced the Pura X View last month with a partial spec reveal, then launched it properly at the Mate XT 2 unveiling event, according to Huawei Central. Pre-orders are open. GSMArena says the China release falls on September 9 at 10:08 AM local time, while Xiaomiui points to Wednesday, September 8.
