macOS 27 lets you resize the iPhone Mirroring window

Apple's macOS 27 Golden Gate beta adds free window resizing to iPhone Mirroring, replacing the fixed size presets the feature has used since launch.

9to5Mac reports that iPhone Mirroring on macOS previously offered only three window sizes: smaller, actual size, and larger. In macOS 27, the window can be dragged to any size, matching how other Mac windows behave.

The catch is compatibility. Resizing only works with apps built for iOS 27 right now, which in practice means Apple's own iPhone apps. Third-party apps will gain support as developers update them for iOS 27 over the coming months, and 9to5Mac expects that rollout to move quickly once it starts.

There's a second story tucked into the change. 9to5Mac argues the shift to a freely resizable window is Apple preparing its interface for a folding iPhone Ultra, expected to launch later this year. A fixed set of aspect ratios makes little sense once a phone can unfold into a different shape, so a flexible window is the more future-proof design.

Both macOS 27 and iOS 27 are currently available as public betas, ahead of a full release expected alongside new iPhone hardware later in the year.
