Pixel 11 arrives August 12, and the leaks all point the same way on price

Google has confirmed the launch date; everything else, from a $100 increase to a 256GB base model, is still a rumour.

If the leaks hold, the cheapest new Pixel will cost $100 more than the one it replaces, and the same $100 jump is claimed for every phone in the range. The trade appears to be storage. Google is reportedly dropping 128GB as the entry configuration and starting the Pixel 11 at 256GB instead.

The date itself is not a rumour. Google has confirmed that the Pixel 11 series gets its official announcement at the next Made by Google event, on Wednesday, August 12, at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT in New York City. Trevor Noah is expected to host, with guests including Alex Cooper, Stephen Curry, Shubman Gill, Peggy Gou, Jesser, JuJu Watkins, Chari Hawkins and PinkPantheress.

Pre-orders are the part worth setting an alarm for, because a countdown is reportedly running down to a point hours ahead of the evening event, at which the Pixel 11 goes up for order along with, presumably, the Pixel Watch 5 and the Pixel Tag.

The chip is the most interesting claim on the table. It looks very likely that the Tensor G6 will be the first chipset built on TSMC's 2nm process, and early benchmark tests suggest the CPU could land a 40% improvement over the Tensor G5.

Elsewhere the changes read as incremental. The Pixel 11's battery is rumoured at 4,985mAh against the 4,970mAh cell in the Pixel 10, a difference you will never feel. Zoom is the bigger one: up to 30x, where the Pixel 10 stops at 20x.

Leaks have confirmed that the Pixel Glow lighting effect fires when you talk to Gemini and when a favourite contact calls. The feature is reportedly now called HiLight.

On the Pro models, the temperature sensor is expected to disappear, apparently because Google has something else planned for the camera bar. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is rumoured to ship on August 20 rather than turning up weeks behind the rest of the line, and its battery is where leaks split: one puts it as low as 4,806mAh, another at 4,750mAh, with the more efficient Tensor G6 possibly offsetting the reduction.

The Pixel Watch 5 is said to keep the general design of the Watch 4 while moving to Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 "Accelerated" chip, with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Prices reportedly start at $399 for the 41mm and $429 for the 45mm, a $50 increase, with August 20 tipped as the release date.

Then there is the Pixel Tag, described in leaks as a pill-shaped tracker with a built-in speaker, priced around €34.90 in Europe. That is reported to be the same price as Apple's AirTag.
