vivo launches the X Fold6 globally with a 6,900 mAh battery in a 4.4 mm body
The foldable that went on sale in China three months ago is now a global product, with a 200 MP main sensor and a battery bigger than most slab phones carry.
The usual compromise with a book-style foldable is the battery, and vivo has decided not to make it. The X Fold6, now announced for global markets, carries a 6,900 mAh BlueVolt battery with 80W FlashCharge, 40W Wireless FlashCharge and wireless reverse charging, in a body that measures roughly 4.4 mm unfolded and weighs 228 g in the Prism Black finish. Horizon Blue is slightly thicker and heavier at 4.8 mm and 235 g.
vivo credits two things for that. A 5th-generation silicon anode design raises energy density, and a 3rd-generation semi-solid-state cell improves low-temperature and low-voltage discharge, which the company says keeps power output reliable down to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
The inner screen is an 8.02-inch LTPO AMOLED at 2312x2504, and the 6.51-inch cover display runs 1120x2528. Both are 120 Hz panels with 5,000 nits peak brightness. The backplanes use 8T-LTPO with a 1 to 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and a minimum brightness of 1 nit, and the two panels use different luminescent materials, Samsung's M14 inside and BOE's Q11 on the cover. The Verge points out that the cover display keeps the standard 20:9 phone aspect ratio and opens to an almost square inner panel, which is the shape most people will actually find easy to live with.
The crease is still there. The Verge calls it quite visible and a little behind rivals.
The camera is where vivo has spent the most. The 200 MP ZEISS main camera uses a Samsung HPB sensor defined jointly by vivo and Samsung, with ZEISS T* coating and OIS, and The Verge describes the 1/1.4-inch-type sensor as one of the biggest on any foldable, with only Huawei using something larger. Alongside it sits a 50 MP periscope telephoto with OIS, a Sony LYTIA 602 sensor, 3x optical zoom, telephoto macro and up to 100x ZEISS HyperZoom, plus a 50 MP ultrawide. There are 20 MP selfie cameras on both the inner and cover displays. Processing runs through vivo's Imaging Chip V3+.
The chipset is the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, co-developed and tuned by vivo and MediaTek for this phone specifically, with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
The international version ships with OriginOS 7 Fold on Android 17. It introduces Jovi, an AI agent vivo says is built to turn intent into action rather than just hold a conversation, and a Data Store feature that lets users in select markets buy local data plans on the device instead of swapping SIM cards, covering 129 countries and regions.
Durability reporting varies. vivo's own materials list IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance with IP5X dust resistance, while GSMArena lists the phone as IP58 and IP59. The Verge's verdict on the IP59 rating is that it is good but not great.
The global announcement lands exactly three months after the phone went on sale in China.
