The cheapest way into Honor's next flagship, at least in China, is CNY 5,999 ($893) for the vanilla Magic9 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Honor CEO Li Jian revealed that figure himself, calling it a special price marking the tenth anniversary of the Magic series. A Chinese national subsidy can bring it down to CNY 5,499 ($819).

That number is worth holding next to what else is on sale right now. GSMArena notes that the recently launched vivo X500 asks the same CNY 5,999 but gives you 12GB of RAM with its 512GB of storage and offers no 16GB option at all, while the directly comparable 16/512GB vivo X500 Pro costs CNY 7,999 ($1,191), exactly as much as the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The Oppo Find X10 sits between them at CNY 6,499 ($968).

So the Magic9 lands CNY 2,000 below the directly comparable 16/512GB vivo X500 Pro.

Only the vanilla model has a price so far. Huawei Central reports that Li Jian's Weibo post, in which he said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Honor Magic line, covered that version alone.

The launch itself is set for September 28 in Beijing. Techgenyz reports that Honor's Chinese launch page bills the event as the HONOR Magic Festival.

Two things Honor has already put its own name to: a collaboration with the German film-technology company ARRI, with the company saying the Magic9 series incorporates ARRI colour science, and dual 3D biometric identification that pairs a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader with 3D facial recognition.

The rest is still reporting rather than confirmation. GSMArena writes that the Magic9 is rumored to use a 6.37-inch 1236x2664 LTPS OLED panel at 120Hz with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 running things, and Techgenyz points to a Magic9 Super Edition said to carry an 11,000mAh battery and an active cooling fan.

Four colours are listed for the standard Magic9: Opening Statement, Curtain Black, Olive Green and Popcorn Yellow.
