Samsung begins rolling out stable One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26 series
The Android 17-based update reaches the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra after a months-long beta, with South Korea reported first in line.
Galaxy S26 owners can start looking for One UI 9 today. GSMArena reports that Samsung is releasing the stable build, based on Android 17, for the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra following a months-long beta testing period.
The update goes out across various markets, and South Korea appears to have been served first, as an over-the-air download of roughly 650MB.
Engadget notes the phones are getting it a bit over a month after the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8 began shipping with One UI 9 on board.
Samsung is pushing My FanCam as one of the headline additions. It can automatically crop any video you have already shot so that it follows a single person, even as they move around the frame.
Now Nudge is the other feature Samsung wants to draw attention to, and the company says it can pull personal context from across the Galaxy ecosystem to offer suggestions, the example given being how much easier it becomes to drop reservation details into a text conversation. Samsung also claims it takes fewer steps than before. Cards for the Now Brief can now be created and edited by the user with generative AI.
Interpreter picks up a Thread View, meant to help you keep track of a translated conversation by making it easier to look back at what was said earlier. Translations in Conversation Mode are said to be faster.
Voice Recorder summaries arrive in a more structured and clearer format, according to Samsung, with headings and tables. Document Scan is supposed to handle curved book pages and pages with folded corners without much manual adjustment. Samsung says Creative Studio has been improved as well.
On the security side, One UI 9 adds Security Brief, which delivers malware alerts and flags other security issues, plus Privacy Alerts. Scam call detection expands to Japan, Canada and India.
