Galaxy S26 FE Launches With One UI 9 Before the Flagship S26 Gets It
Samsung's cheaper S26 arrives on finished software while the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra are still running beta builds.
If you were waiting for One UI 9 on a shipping phone, the first one is not a flagship. Samsung has announced the Galaxy S26 FE as the newest member of the S26 family and the first in the lineup to launch with One UI 9 already on board.
The rest of the range is still in testing. Samsung released a sixth One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, then followed it with a seventh shortly after, with that build going out in South Korea, India, Germany, Poland and the UK.
Under the FE's software sits a new chip. Android Authority reports the phone moves up from last year's Exynos 2400 to the Exynos 2500, the chipset that originally launched with the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
The camera picks up a feature that until now was reserved for the expensive folding models: My FanCam, first introduced on the latest Galaxy foldables, is available on the S26 FE, and according to Android Authority this is the first non-foldable Samsung device to get it. The phone supports 3x optical zoom.
Battery capacity is 4,900 mAh. Samsung says users can reach up to 69% charge in around 30 minutes with the 45W adapter, and that the cell fits without compromising the slim design shared across the S26 line.
The support commitment is the part that matters most over the life of the phone, and it matches what Samsung puts on its top models: up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, which means a buyer picking this up now is looking at a device that stays current well past the point where most mid-range hardware stops receiving anything at all.
On timing, the two available accounts differ by a day. Samsung states the Galaxy S26 FE will be available starting Sept. 4 in select markets, in Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio. Android Authority reports the start date as September 3.
