Samsung sets an August 27 Galaxy Event for a new S26 phone
Samsung will introduce the newest member of the Galaxy S26 family on August 27, without saying yet what it is called.
If you held off on a Galaxy S26 earlier this year, Samsung is about to give you another option. The company has confirmed a Galaxy Event for August 27, where it will introduce the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family.
The stream starts at 9 p.m. KST on Samsung.com and Samsung's YouTube channel. Engadget puts that at 8 a.m. Eastern time.
Samsung has not said what the device is called. What it has said is that the phone is purposefully designed to bring the core Galaxy S26 experiences, from camera to AI, along with the latest One UI, to people looking for what matters most to them. The company frames the launch against the main lineup, saying the Galaxy S26 series raised the bar with its boldest camera and AI innovations yet and made it easier for users to capture, create and connect every day.
Engadget reads the wording as pointing to a Galaxy S26 FE, and the timing fits the pattern: Samsung usually launches the FE or Fan Edition versions of its S-series phones at a separate event from the flagship announcement, so a late-August date on its own already narrows down what kind of phone this is likely to be.
Fan Edition models are the cheaper take on the flagship. They still sit above Samsung's actual mid-range phones, which is the whole point of the line.
On specifications, Engadget reports that leaks so far point to a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
That is leak territory, not a spec sheet. The event is still three weeks away.
